Vision of the Near Future
A s the "New Northern Virginia"
continues to grow and develop, Manassas Ballet Theatre plans to continue its
own growth and development.
It is the mission of MBT to contribute to our community by helping improve
the quality of life through ballet. Our vision is to be one of the
drivers of the development of our community as an arts destination, drawing
audiences from other parts of Virginia, DC and further afield.
Key to this development is MBT's new performance home, the Community
Performing Arts Center at George Mason University's PWC Campus. This 10
story, $56,000,000 facility is scheduled to open in early 2009. This state
of the art facility is specifically designed to enhance the audiences
viewing experience and will be one of the finest venues in the nation.
To serve our audience and community in a manner befitting such a wonderful
venue, the Company plans to continue improving. That means growing the
Company, new costumes and better scenery.
Another part of Manassas Ballet Theatre's mission is our Educational Outreach
program. In it we provide performances to area schoolchildren free of charge
to the school and students. Annually, several thousand local students
receive a broadening cultural experience that few would otherwise have. In
the future MBT hopes to expand this program into a weekly class at every
elementary school in the community.
